French beans or #BeansPalya is a #southindian dish often served with #Akkiroti. I learnt this from my mother who inherited it from my grandmother.
Most of us enjoy the food cooked by our parents. From the time you taste a particular dish for the first time, you develop a good or bad connection with it. I believe when we cook with love, patience and with the right ingredients you can get the best taste out of it.

Ingredients
200 gram half inch length cut French beans
1 medium sized cube cut potato
1 medium sized chopped onion
1 slit green chilli
2 tsp sambar powder
1 tsp Tamarind paste
Small lemon sized jaggery
5-6 curry leaves
1 tbsp chopped coriander for seasoning
1 tsp salt
1tbsp groundnut oil (use any other vegetable oil of your choice)
1tbsp rice flour
½ tsp turmeric powder
For seasoning
½ tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp chana dal
A pinch of asafoetida or garlic
Recipe
👩🍳 Cook French beans and potato with a cup of water and salt in a pressure cooker for one whistle.
👩🍳Heat the oil in a frying pan. As soon as the oil gets heated add mustard seeds and chana dal.
👩🍳Allow mustard seeds to splutter and chana dal to get golden brown.
👩🍳Add the onion and green chilli. (Remember to add the green chilli together with onion only. This is because if the green chilli is added alone it gets burnt & a strong odour is generated that might make you to sneeze)
👩🍳Once you see onion turning soft and brown add the curry leaves, turmeric powder along with the boiled beans, potato with the water (Adding the same water from the boiled beans and potato in the dish makes sure that the nutrients are not lost from them)
👩🍳Add the sambar powder , tamarind and rice flour with some salt .
👩🍳 Mix well and let it boil with a closed lid for 2-3 minutes and simmer the gas.
👩🍳Finally add the chopped coriander for seasoning and serve hot
