Green beans side dish

Simple food can never go out of fashion. This side dish is having the goodness of beans and the flavour of lemon and spices.. Green beans are a good source of vitamins and minerals including folate which is very good especially for women.

How to eat it?

This is best enjoyed as a #sidedish with #rice or #roti (Indian flatbread)

Ingredients (serves 2)

250 gm washed and cut beans (inch length)

1 red onion peeled and chopped in small pieces

1 chopped green chilli

1 tsp mustard seeds

1 tsp black gram lentil (urad dal)

1tsp split chickpeas (chana dal)

2 tbsp groundnut oil (use any other vegetable oil of your choice)

salt to taste

1/2 lemon juice

Recipe

👩‍🍳Boil the chopped beans in just half a cup of water with some salt until cooked or pressure cook for one whistle. (I generally cook in a pressure cooker with separators so that I can cook rice and boil vegetables at the same time)

👩‍🍳Heat the oil in a pan and add mustard seeds

👩‍🍳Add Urad dal and chana dal

👩‍🍳Stir until they turn brown and nice

👩‍🍳Now add the onions and stir occasionally

👩‍🍳Once they begin to turn brown add the chilli

👩‍🍳Add salt and the boiled beans

👩‍🍳Cook open for 5 minutes

👩‍🍳 Add fresh lemon juice and grated coconut for garnish (optional but this tastes amazing)

Total

10-15 min
